13 Jul COVID-19: the industry welcomes the EP vote on Stage V transition deadlines
Last Friday, 10th July, the European Parliament adopted a text extending the Stage V transition deadlines for certain categories of engines to be fitted in non-road mobile machinery.
The European non-road mobile machinery sector warmly welcomed the European Parliament support to the Commission’s proposal at the last plenary sitting.
This provides the necessary measures to mitigate disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is of the utmost importance to support our manufacturers now and in the coming months.
Concretely, this text will postpone the 30th June and 31st December 2020 deadlines for the production and placing on the market of NRMM fitted with <56kW and ≥130kW transition engines.
In line with the position adopted by COREPER (Permanent Representations of Member States), the European Parliament introduced a retroactivity application of the legal text. This was necessary considering the delayed adoption process.
We are now waiting for the urgent publication of the amended Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 before the summer recess.
