09 May EGMF comments on the draft ECHA guideline on nickel restriction
The EGMF position paper states that garden machinery, including handles and grips, does not fall under this nickel restriction. Therefore, EGMF asks ECHA to remove handles and grips of garden machinery from the list of equipment falling under the restriction scope. The main reasons are the non-justified extension of the scope, the lack of impact assessment and the over-estimation of the use time of garden machinery (eg a lawnmower). We also point out the non-inclusion of nickel in handles, the use of paint coating for metal tubes & rubber for grips, and the necessary use of protective equipment.
